Don't Limit Yourself
As many of you may be doing, I am currently watching the BYU football game against UCLA and, much to my surprise, WE ARE WINNING! I'm not sure if we will win or not, but the fact that we are still in it, and currently up, is amazing! Thinking about that and this post got me thinking. Why let other people's thoughts or expectations (including your own) affect what you do? It doesn't really matter if you succeed or fail, but rather that you know you left nothing on the table. That is what I want to focus on improving this week: make sure that when all is said and done (in anything I do) that I left nothing on the table and gave it all I had. Herb Brooks - coach of the Miracle Olympic Hockey Team - said, "The important thing is that those boys know in twenty years, they didn't leave anything on the table. They played their hearts out. That's the important thing."

Deadlines
This past week I missed posting my weekly update on time. Normally this wouldn't really bother me because I haven't been much of a blogger in my life, but recently I have had the importance emphasized to me multiple times. So I decided that I would give it a go for a little while and see if I notice the benefits that were mentioned to me on multiple occasions. I'll be posting weekly updates about what's going on in my life, how they affect me, and what changes I am going to make based on these experiences.
As I mentioned earlier, I missed making a post last week. As a part of that I was deducted points because it is an assignment in one of my classes to post each week. It is so easy to forget about the little tasks or assignments that we have in life. I'm not just talking about forgetting to post a weekly update. Think about it. How often do we forget to do something small? Like forgetting to buy something at the grocery store because we forgot to write it down. Or we forget to call a friend and ask how they are doing after we had the thought to. Little things slip by us all the time!
What I have decided to do to help with that is whenever I have one of these thoughts, add it to my to-do list on my phone. I always have my phone with me so I'll always be able to have somewhere to write these things down. I hope to be able to let less and less of these little things go by in my life and start acting on them. Hopefully I can help someone by doing this, even if I am the benefactor and the reminder is to just write my weekly update!
