Deadlines

This past week I missed posting my weekly update on time.  Normally this wouldn't really bother me because I haven't been much of a blogger in my life, but recently I have had the importance emphasized to me multiple times.  So I decided that I would give it a go for a little while and see if I notice the benefits that were  mentioned to me on multiple occasions.  I'll be posting weekly updates about what's going on in my life, how they affect me, and what changes I am going to make based on these experiences.

As I mentioned earlier, I missed making a post last week.  As a part of that I was deducted points because it is an assignment in one of my classes to post each week.  It is so easy to forget about the little tasks or assignments that we have in life.  I'm not just talking about forgetting to post a weekly update.  Think about it.  How often do we forget to do something small?  Like forgetting to buy something at the grocery store because we forgot to write it down.  Or we forget to call a friend and ask how they are doing after we had the thought to.  Little things slip by us all the time!

What I have decided to do to help with that is whenever I have one of these thoughts, add it to my to-do list on my phone.  I always have my phone with me so I'll always be able to have somewhere to write these things down.  I hope to be able to let less and less of these little things go by in my life and start acting on them.  Hopefully I can help someone by doing this, even if I am the benefactor and the reminder is to just write my weekly update!

  1. I am right there with you Taylor! The exact same thing happened to me and I realized I need to take this seriously! We can do it!

  2. I like the idea of using your phone to write down a to-do-list. I am going to make an effort to do that as well.

  3. As a missionary I always had my planner in my pocket and pulled it out 1000 times a day to make notes like that. It was incredible because I remembered everything I needed to do because I recorded it the second it popped into my brain, and I also recorded five-times the revelation I otherwise would have because I jotted down a note to remind myself to write in detail about a thought later.

  5. The little things add up to make the big things matter. That's how it goes in life, and also the gospel. If you forget to do the little things, you won't want to do the big things, because they aren't important to you. Thank you for sharing, I hope to also make sure the little things count by writing them down!
